To make your own applications portable follow the steps below
Step 1:
Go to C:\ProgramFiles
This is the directory which mainly contains your installed files. In that directory
select the application you want to make it portable.
For ex : I want to make the application Winrar portable.
Go to the location ( C:\Program Files\Winrar )
Step 2 :
Now copy the source directory to another location
For ex : I have copied my C:\ProgramFiles\Winrar directory to D:\Portable
(You can copy it in any directory you want ) .
Step 3 :
Now download the software
Click here to download
This contains two files compress.bat and upx.exe
Step 4 :
Extract the two files to the folder where you have copied your source directory
i.e D:\Portable\Winrar.
The extracted files should be placed in a directory which has the .exe file.
For ex: I have extracted the files in the directory which has winrar.exe
Step 5:
Double click on compress.bat file. After it finishes execution now your Portable application
is ready.You can now carry your application wherever you want through USB or CD. It works
for most of the applications but fails for some applications.
